Parshas Vayeira 5787

R' Eliyahu Dushnitzer zt"l (Nachal Eliyahu) would say:
"'יקח נא מעט מים' - in Parshas Vayera, the pasuk uses yukach (“let be brought”) for water, indicating Avraham delegated the task to a servant, so he modestly requested only 'a little' to avoid overburdening someone else for his own mitzvah. In contrast, regarding the bread, he said ve’ekcha (“and I will fetch”), acting entirely on his own, which allowed him to give boundlessly without limit. Ultimately, Avraham Avinu teaches us that true chessed demands not only overflowing generosity toward our guests, but also deep sensitivity toward those who help us serve them."
