R’ Moshe Feinstein zt”l (Darash Moshe) would say: “'ויתן לו מעשר מכל' - The difference between Avraham offering Malki Tzedek a tithe (maaser) and his own refusal to take loot from Sodom, is that the King of Sodom insisted on crediting himself over Hashem for Avraham’s wealth. Avraham gave Malki Tzedek a tithe because Malki Tzedek acknowledged Hashem’s role. If one knows that all belongs to Hashem and He is the one Who can make another person rich, then whether you get or you give - you’re only a messenger of Hashem.”
