R’ Yechezkel Abramsky zt”l (Chazon Yechezkel) would say: “'והעם לא נסע עד האסף מרים' - ‘This honor (waiting for Miriam) was given to her by Hashem because of the hour that she waited for Moshe when he was thrown in the Nile.’ (Rashi) Why did Miriam deserve such a reward? After all, she was merely waiting to see what would happen to him? When a man is asked after his death, ‘Did you wait for the redemption,’ he is not asked if he hoped for it but if he waited for it like a person who knows that it will certainly arrive. Similarly, Miriam’s merit was that she was certain that Moshe would be saved, and just waited to see how it would happen.”
A Wise Man would say:
“I worry there is something broken in our generation; there are too many sad eyes on happy faces.”
