Parshas Vayikrah 5786

R’ Chaim Aryeh Fenster zt”l (Shaar Bas Rabim) would say: “'ונפש כי תחטא ... אם לוא יגיד ונשא עונו' - Shlomo Hamelech writes in Mishlei (28:13), ‘One who covers up his sins will not prosper, but the one who confesses and forsakes [them] shall be given mercy.’ By inserting the letter 'ו' into the word 'לא', the Torah here is alluding to this concept. When a person sins, 'אם לו יגיד' - ‘if he will tell it to Him’ - if he will confess to Hashem and repent - 'ונשא עונו' - ‘his iniquity will be forgiven.’ However, 'אם לא יגיד' - ‘if he will not tell it,’ he will attempt to conceal his sin and not do teshuvah - 'ונשא עונו'- ‘he will continue to carry (נשא) his iniquity.’”

A Wise Man would say: “Our prime purpose in life is to help others. And if you can’t help them, at least don’t hurt them.”
