Rebbe R’ Heshel of Krakow zt”l (Chanukas Hatorah) would say “'וראה הכהן את הנגע ביום השביעי' - Why must a person come to the kohen specifically on the day when he becomes purified from his plague of צרעת - leprosy? The leprosy was inflicted as a result of Lashon Hara, speaking ill of another person or talebearing. This kind of behavior very easily becomes habitual. On the day when the person is once again allowed to re-enter society, he might immediately begin speaking improperly once again. Therefore, he is brought to the kohen to receive extra strength, counseling and guidance to deal with this terrible habit.”
