Parshas Korach 5786

ויאמר ה' אל אהרן בארצם לא תנחל וחלק לא יהיה לך בתוכם אני חלקך ונחלתך בתוך בנ"י ... (יח-כ)

The posuk states with regard to Shevet Levi: “In their Land you shall have no inheritance and a share you shall not have among them; I am your share and inheritance among the Bnei Yisroel.” Levi was to receive no portion in Eretz Yisroel; rather, their inheritance is Hashem, to be devoted to His service and to be standing and ready to spread His Torah among the Jewish people. The Rambam at the end of Hilchos Shemittah v’Yovel famously adds: "ולא שבט לוי בלבד" - This does not apply only to the tribe of Levi; rather, each and every person in this world whose spirit motivates him and whose mind grants him the understanding to separate himself and stand before Hashem and serve Him and worship Him, [that is,] to know Hashem... and casts off his neck the yoke of the many calculations that people make [regarding his livelihood, etc.] - such a person becomes kodesh kodashim! And Hashem will be his share and inheritance forever and ever, and He will grant him in this world sufficient sustenance, in the same way that He granted the Kohanim and Leviyim.” In other words, anyone who dedicates himself to the service of Hashem and to learning His Torah, Hashem will ensure that he gets the sustenance he needs to persevere.

This has been borne out time and again. A check comes in out of nowhere; someone decides to give a belated birthday cash gift - Hashem has many ways to send a person parnassah, and those who spend their days in the Beis HaMedrash dedicated to His service see constant miracles in maintaining their holy work.

Rabbosai, a gevaldik opportunity has been presented to us here in America. The Torah world in Eretz Yisroel is reeling from the gezeiros imposed by the heretical government and courts, and the yeshivos and kollelim have lost their funding. It is the hashgacha of Hashem that the achrayus for their budgets has fallen upon us in Chutz L’aretz. Let us heed the call of the Gedolim and through the Keren Olam HaTorah be the shluchim neemanim of Hashem to keep the banner of Torah flying proudly in our holy land. ברוך אשר יקים את דברי התורה הזאת!
