Parshas Ki Seitzei 5786

Chid”a, Rabbeinu Chaim Yosef David Azulai zt”l (Kisei Dovid) would say: “'כי יקח אשה' - The act of acquiring a woman is called kiddushin (sanctification). Just as when one sanctifies something he separates it and designates it specifically to Hashem, similarly, a woman is now separated from the entire world and belongs only to her husband. Under the chupah we state that we are emulating Hashem who, at Matan Torah, separated us from the the world and designated us for Himself, 'על ידי חופה' - through the suspended mountain, 'וקידושין' - giving of the luchos.”

A Wise Man would say: “Happiness is a large, loving, close-knit family in another city.”
